Abstract:Various journal-ranking algorithms have been proposed, most of them based on citation counts. This article introduces a new approach based on the reciprocal direct influence of all pairs of a list of journals. The proposed method is assessed against an opinion-based ranking published in 2005 for 25 operations research and management science (OR/MS) journals, and five existing approaches based on citation counts. The results show a strong correlation with the opinion-based ranking.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
