“…Despite having such high ratings towards the overall professionalism and quality of services provided by the LUE librarians, LIS students at all three universities still preferred to search for information through the Internet instead of seeking a one-on-one consultation in person, when they were unable to find materials for writing their assignments (see graph – Figure 1). Not to our surprise, such results are very similar to the findings of our previous studies conducted at Fudan University (China), NTNU, PKU, and University of Tsukuba (Liu et al, 2016, 2019). In short, search engines like Google (Baidu in Mainland China) were reported to be most popular amongst the student participants at all three universities.…”

Results of these previous studies show that students of different academic disciplines and study levels tended to have distinctive information needs, and library usage patterns that gave rise to differing perceptions towards their respective LUE programs.…”

“…In addition, the Florida university database also provides access to non-database sources, such as government content and multiple website links, to facilitate the work of researchers. In this context, Liu et al (2016) found many companies using databases such as XML, XML-Enabled and Mixed XML and the NXD to obtain important information from its original format and store data. Soria et al (2017) keenly observed that libraries provide access to database resources and printed materials have a significant impact on users' performance.…”
