Nowadays, transport is the basis for the functioning of national, continental, and global economies. Thus, many governments recognize it as a critical element in ensuring the daily existence of societies in their countries. Those responsible for the proper operation of the transport sector must have the right tools to model, analyze, and optimize its elements. One of the most critical problems is the need to prevent bottlenecks in transport networks. Thus, the main aim of the article was to define the parameters characterizing the transportation network vulnerability and select algorithms to support their search. The parameters proposed are based on characteristics related to domination in graph theory. The domination, edge-domination concepts, and related topics, such as bondage-connected and weighted bondage-connected numbers, were applied as the tools for searching and identifying the bottlenecks in transportation networks. Furthermore, the algorithms for finding the minimal dominating set and minimal (maximal) weighted dominating sets are proposed. This way, the exemplary academic transportation network was analyzed in two cases: stationary and dynamic. Some conclusions are presented. The main one is the fact that the methods given in this article are universal and applicable to both small and large-scale networks. Moreover, the approach can support the dynamic analysis of bottlenecks in transport networks.

Dynamic congestion pricing has attracted increasing attentions during the recent years. Nevertheless, limited research has been conducted to address the dynamic tolling scheme at the network level, such as to cooperatively manage two alternative networks with heterogeneous properties, e.g., the two-layer network consisting of both expressway and arterial network in the urban areas. Recently, the macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) developed by both field experiments and simulation tests illustrates a unimodal low-scatter relationship between the mean flow and density network widely, providing the network traffic state is roughly homogeneous. It reveals traffic flow properties at an aggregated level and sheds light on dynamic traffic management of a large network. This paper proposes a bilevel programming toll model, incorporating MFD to solve the unbalanced flow distribution problem within the two-layer transportation networks. The upper level model aims at minimizing the total travel time, while the lower level focuses on the MFD-based traffic assignment, which extends the link-based traffic assignment to network wide level. Genetic algorithm (GA) and the method of successive average were adopted for solving the proposed model, on which an online experimental platform was established using VISSIM, MATLAB, and Visual Studio software packages. The results of numerical studies demonstrate that the total travel time is decreased by imposing the dynamic toll, while the total travel time savings significantly outweigh the toll paid. Consequently, the proposed dynamic toll scheme is believed to be effective from both traffic and economic points of view.

1In modern cities, urban metro systems gradually become an important transportation tool. The failure of metro may influence citizens' travel and cause economic losses. It is a focal problem that assessing the vulnerability of metro networks at home and abroad. Several metro networks are modeled by a modified Space L, in which metro interchange and travel time are involved. The properties of these metro networks are calculated at first, showing that at the same size, the average degree is larger, the network efficiency is better. Then the vulnerabilities of metro networks under random attack and three malicious attacks are studied and discussed. It is discovered that the metro networks are vulnerable to the biggest travel-time-efficiency node-based attack(EA) and the highest betweenness node-based attack(BA), and robust against random attack. The four attacks harm Tokyo metro network least, which has a big size, the max average degree and clustering coefficient of the seven metro networks. Finally, the top ten stations in order under EA and BA are respectively listed as a case study of Shanghai metro.
