Mechanical analysis of the structure of longwall mining hydraulic support

Abstract: Existing studies of the structural strength of longwall mining hydraulic support are mainly focused on the force acting on individual supports instead of the general mechanical characteristics of the support group in a fully mechanized coal seam working face. This study combines theoretical analyses and experiments to investigate the mechanical characteristics of a longwall mining hydraulic support group and the stiffness of key support components under different working conditions. The theory of a beam on an … Show more

“…Currently, as the representative of mainstream coal mining technology, fully mechanized mining equipment encountered an extremely challenging environment underground (Smith et al, 2019). The hydraulic support columns, a crucial component, exhibited surface bulging and peeling phenomena after a short operational period, significantly compromising their performance and service life (Li et al, 2020b). Therefore, conducting surface treatment on the hydraulic support columns was imperative to ensure enhanced corrosion resistance, thereby prolonging their service life.…”

“…Szurgacz et al [10] carried out impact tests on hydraulic supports and pointed out the possible dangerous areas in hydraulic supports. Li et al [11] studied the mechanical properties and stiffness characteristics of the hydraulic support group under different working conditions through the combination of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, which provided references for the optimization design of hydraulic support. Based on the dynamic model of super large mining height hydraulic support, Yang et al [12] analyzed the impact characteristics of super large mining height hydraulic support and summarized the overall influence of impact load on the stress state of hydraulic support.…”

“…It is mainly used to support the roof and push the armoured face conveyor during the mining process, thus enabling a safe working space for underground mining. Therefore, the support stability of hydraulic support is one of the key factors that determine safe coal mining [4]. During the normal operation period, the hydraulic support mainly bears the static gravity load coming from the roof.…”
