Mechanical Behaviors of Rice Husk and Boiled Egg Shell Particles Impregnated Coir‐Polyester Composites

Abstract: Summary: This paper aims at improving the mechanical properties of coir fiber reinforced polyester composites through impregnation of rice husk and boiled egg shell in polyester matrix. The composites sheets were manufactured by varying the fabrication parameters such as fiber length, particulate content and fiber content. The mechanical properties of the fabricated composites were determined as per ASTM standards and the effects of fiber length, particulate content and fiber content on mechanical properties o… Show more

“…The result indicated that by adding a hybrid filler increased the mechanical properties. From this study, better values of tensile, flexural, and impact strengths of 31.5 MPa, 33 MPa, and 43.5 kJ/m 2 , respectively, are reported .…”

“…So this study revealed filler addition increases the mechanical properties of composite. In another work, the addition of 20 % volume fraction of rice husk and egg shell particles in coir fiber composite increased the flexural strength value was 33 MPa obtained (Bharathiraja et al 2016). In another work it is studied the effect of Glass Fiber Polysulfone composite reinforcement on flexural strength of two denture base polymers.…”

“…19 Rice husk can be better hybrid particle than coir polyester composites. 20 The improvement in mechanical properties depends on the fiber loading, particle size of the fiber, concentration and chemical structure of the coupling agents. 21 Nanoclay and natural fiber-based hybrid composite are more compatible food packaging materials.…”
