“…In literature, there are various presented experimental results on both small punch testing at room temperature and ductile to brittle transition of ferritic steels, see e.g, [51], [52], [53], [5]. Among those, the recent work of Turba et.at, [5] performed experiments for temperatures starting from 22 • C to −196 • C, also covering the ductile to transition range.…”

“…Small Punch (SP) testing using disc-shaped specimens with a thickness of 0.25 or 0.5 mm and diameters of 3 or 8 mm, respectively, is an example of the latter approach. Due to the small size of the specimens, this technique enables extracting samples from local areas like a weld or even the heat-affected zone of a weldment [2][3][4], where the non-uniformity of the mechanical properties precludes usage of standard specimen sizes. SP testing has also proven important a technique for rapid prototyping and virtually non-destructive performance assessment of service-exposed materials.…”

“…The test requires smaller specimen sizes as compared to standard mechanical tests. Hence, it allows investigations of regions with gradients properly, such as heat affected zones [ 1 , 2 ]. Due to its small size the test is almost non-destructive.…”

“…On the experimental side, SP tests are carried out using disks of P91 material which is a heat resistant steel widely used in power plants. Due to this reason it is frequently preferred as the test material in the SP method [ 1 , 2 , 5 , 6 ]. The SP disks are produced with varying thicknesses from 0.2 mm to 1 mm were tested up to complete fracture.…”
