Mechanical improvement of P(VDF-TrFE) /nickel nanowires conductive nanocomposites: Influence of particles aspect ratio

Abstract: Nickel nanowires with high aspect ratio (250) were elaborated and incorporated into poly(vinylidene difluoride-trifluoroethylene) up to 30 vol% via solvent mixing way. These nanocomposites are characterized by a conductive behavior with a high electrical conductivity value (10 2 S m −1 ) above a very low percolation threshold (0.75 vol% of metallic nanowires). The introduction of nanowires strongly depressed the matrix crystallinity. Static and dynamic mechanical analysis have been realized at low nanowire vol… Show more

“…The differences in the buckled structure, including the surface roughness, the width of the crest, and the amplitude, according to the different mixing ratios resulted from the differences in the degrees of peeling off stress, which is related to the mechanical property of the PDMS matrix of the nanowire composite, during the detaching process from the PDMS mold. The elastic modulus of the PDMS matrix and the nanowire composite was predicted using the modified Halpin-Tsai equation [12,13]:…”

“…While most of the research on VDF based polymer composites historically focused on their dielectric and electromechanical properties, recently more attention has also been dedicated to the understanding of their processing and their morphological, structural, 4 thermal and mechanical properties [16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23]. The fabrication of VDF polymer based composites poses challenges due to the difficulty of homogeneously dispersing the inorganic filler into the fluoropolymer matrix and to the poor matrix-filler adhesion.…”

“…AR, surface modification [45][46][47][48]). In the case of a 5 wt% of MWCNT, the conductivity still increases although flexibility and processability of the polymer is lost as reported by Lonjon et al [49] in the case of P(VDF-TrFE) and nickel nanowires. For these two opposing reasons, only PVDF-MWCNT (3%) in bulk and infiltrated in AAO templates will be deeply studied by BDS.…”
