Mechanical properties and environmental performance of seawater sea-sand self-compacting Concrete

Abstract: Due to the constituted ingredients are both rich in reserves, seawater sea-sand self-compacting concrete (SWSS-SCC) today has been treated as an ideal material in constructing island and coastal structures. The technique feasibility of applying SWSS-SCC in real engineering has been recognized by investigating the material properties, but its environmental impacts (EIs) has rarely been concerned at current stage. Under such a background, a refined life cycle assessment model of SWSS-SCC was developed in this st… Show more

“…where P is the power of the oven or furnace (J/s) and m is the mass of the cubic metre of concrete; T curing and t curing are the curing temperature ( C) and time (s), respectively; c denotes the specific heat capacity of the concrete, which was simply assumed to be 700 J/(kgÁ C) in this study (Yang et al, 2022).…”

“…can further improve the microstructure and performance of SSC [16,17]. Except for research on normal-performance SSC, sea sand and seawater have also been used in the development of high-performance concrete, such as ultra-high-performance concrete [18,19] and self-compacting concrete [20], which further widens the possible applications of seawater and sea sand.…”
