Mechanical Properties and Microstructure Evolution of AA1100 Aluminum Sheet Processed by Accumulative Press Bonding Process

Abstract: Accumulative press bonding (APB) is a novel variant of severe plastic deformation processes, which is devised to produce materials with ultra-fine grain. In the present work, the mechanical properties and microstructural evolution of AA1100 alloy, which is produced by APB technique, were investigated. The study of the microstructure of AA1100 alloy was performed by optical microscopy. The results revealed that the grain size of the samples decreased to 950 nm after six passes of APB process. The yield strength… Show more

“…As can be seen in Figs 2 and 3, the wear resistance of composite samples increases while these particles resist the cutting action of the rotating wear pin by increasing the Al2O3 content in low material removal from the pin surface. So, Al2O3 particles have an enhancement role on the wear resistance for all the applied loads in all experimental conditions and act as lubricant agents [12][13][14].…”

“…Significant progress in the development of light ALMCs has been made in recent years and as mentioned before, the composites have been introduced in many needed applications such as in the aerospace and automotive industry [8][9][10][11]. So, these kinds of composites have led to fabrication of tailorable engineering materials with durable and enhanced properties [12][13][14][15].…”
