Abstract:Phellopterin (PLP) is a linear furanocoumarin widely found in citrus fruits and herbal medicines. The study aims to comprehensively investigate the mechanism of inhibition of CYP2D6 enzyme activity by PLP and its alteration of metoprolol pharmacokinetics. PLP was found to irreversibly inhibit CYP2D6 in time-, concentration-, and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-dependent manners.
