“…The maximum value of pressure is on monitoring point T2 and the minimum value of pressure is on monitoring point T3. This is because the shedding vortex on the blade hits the volute tongue and causes large pressure fluctuations [50][51][52][53]. To clearly explain how the STTE profile affects unsteady pulsations, the DES model is used in a transient-state simulation to capture the fluctuating pressure signals and the flow patterns.…”

“…Zhang et al investigated the pressure fluctuations in a prototype of reversible pump‐turbine and showed that at low load condition the pressure fluctuations are quite significant especially in vaneless space and spiral casing with BPF as the dominant frequency. Similarly in a pump‐turbine, Li et al showed that there are high‐amplitude pressure fluctuations at partial operating points and the frequency characteristics were determined by using the time and frequency domain analysis methods. Recently, Chen et al simulated the transient characteristics of a Kaplan turbine during load rejection, and revealed evolutions of inner flow patterns and varying regularities in runner rotation speed, unit flow rate, unit torque, and static pressure which were consistent with the experimental data.…”

“…Based on APDL parametric design language, Li et al (2012) developed a program for calculating the strength of multistage centrifugal pump shaft, established the pump shaft model under zero flow and design point conditions, and made a clear and accurate description of the stress distribution, strength and dangerous point position of different cross-sections of the pump shaft. Li et al (2017;2018; discussed its generating mechanism, accompanying unsteady phenomena and corresponding hysteresis phenomena. Investigations on the influence of geometric and operating unit parameters were presented.…”
