Mechanochemical Synthesis of Fluorapatite-Zinc Oxide (FAp-ZnO) Composite Nanopowders

Abstract: Fluorapatite-zinc oxide (FAp-ZnO) composite nanopowders were successfully prepared via mechanochemical process. Characterization of the products was carried out by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) techniques. Results revealed that in the absence of ZnO which produced by hydrothermal method, the single-phase FAp had high-crystalline structure with appropriate mor… Show more

“…2357 cm -1 and 1978-1998 cm -1 peaks are associated with C=O and C-H bonds, respectively, which can be observed in samples before and after immersion in SBF and are the result of sintering at 1200 ˚C and absorbing carbon from the environment. 735-755 cm -1 and 3700-3800 cm -1 peaks are associated with hydroxyl groups [12,53,54]. The peak observed in the range of 3420-3430cm -1 is associated with vibrations of absorbed water bond [7].…”

“…In addition, by better absorption of protein, expresses a stronger cellular connection and reinforces the activity of phosphates that make stronger osteoconductivity [12,13]. If OH -groups in HA are completely replaced with F -, flourapatite [Ca10(PO4)6F2] is formed [12], which has more chemical and structural stability compared with hydroxyapatite [14].…”

“…Bioceramics and their composites are possible group of materials for medical applications. Owing to the notable interest related to the particular properties of the calcium phosphate‐based composites, current researches were concentrated generally on the preparation and characterization of HA‐ and FHA‐based NCs with suitable properties . Newly, substantial consideration has been focused on preparing NCs wherein nanoapatite crystals are dispersed in appropriate polymer matrix …”

[21][22][23][24] Nevertheless, the bonding between the ceramic nanoparticle and the macromolecule matrix is a significant parameter to improve properties of the NCs.…”
