Due to the nature of the disputes that require both expertise and increasing complexity compared to the old times, individuals have been seeking solutions to their disputes while trying to add continuity to their relations. The judicial processes spanning a long period of time have led individuals and governments to focus on alternative solution methods. Mediation has become one of the most preferred methods that can produce the fastest solution from these alternative solution methods over time. In this study, the stages of development of alternative disputere solution methods, after evaluating their types, the mediation process and their adaptationtoin dividual business disputes are discussed. The deficiencies of the compulsory mediation process and the contradictory aspects with other laws in individual business disputes, which are stil applied in our country, have been evaluated, comparisons have been made by considering different and successful country examples, and suggestions on what can be done in the conclusion section are presented.
