“…Edible flowers have gained popularity in recent years due to their unique flavors and nutritional content. Flowers from peach (Li and Wang, 2011), broccoli (Lou et al, 2023), chrysanthemum (Wei et al, 2023), and Osmanthus fragrans (Wang et al, 2022) are used as a good source for food products. Pomegranate flowers, with their vibrant colors and high phenolic content, surpass white roses, chrysanthemums, and other edible flowers, making them desirable in the consumer market (Teniente et al, 2023).…”

“…Melatonin treatment could increase the antioxidant capacity and slow down senescence in postharvest strawberries ( Liu et al., 2018 ). The treatment also postponed senescence and maintained the firmness and color of postharvest broccoli florets by regulating the expression of genes involved in antioxidant defense and chlorophyll catabolism ( Wu et al., 2021 ; Lou et al., 2023 ). Furthermore, melatonin has been reported to improve the resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses such as chilling injury, pathogen infection, and mechanical damage in postharvest horticultural products ( Feng et al., 2022 ).…”
