“…Future studies can examine ways of instilling organizational SI in employees to enhance their identification with the organization and bridge departmental SIs. Rovio-Johansson and Liff’s ( 2012 ) showed how to achieve greater cooperation in a multiprofessional team through verbal abilities; similar investigation of organizational communication mechanisms in the context of SI could significantly contribute to the understanding and bridging of departmental identities if used effectively by senior management figures who currently use their leadership power to fuel departmental identity. In summary, the current study offers an SI perspective on the interrelations between individuals, groups, and the organization as a whole.…”

“…This article investigates gender patterns in how two interprofessional teams communicated about patients in their absence. Previous research indicates the presence of substandard communication regarding heath care workers' communication with each other (Berry, 2006;Desme et al, 2013;Kripalani et al, 2007), especially concerning communication within interprofessional compositions (Rovio-Johansson & Liff, 2012;Wauben et al, 2010;Woloshynowych, Davis, Brown, & Vincent, 2007). In addition, communication within interprofessional teams is described as particularly important since these compositions constitute "the way forward" in healthcare when it comes to meet the requirement of the so called "Triple Aim": improving the individual experience of care; improving the health of populations; and reducing the per capita costs of care for populations (Berwick, Nolan, & Whittington, 2008;Earnest & Brandt, 2014).…”
