Membrane bioreactors for treatment of galvanic wastewater

Abstract: The article speaks about the membrane methods applied for treatment of galvanic sewage. It reveals the main features and peculiarities, which determine the maintenance of various types of membranes for industrial wastewater treatment. Ultrafiltration is a method that uses a membrane to separate by size ions of heavy metals, petroleum products, macromolecules and suspended solids. Application of ceramic membranes in ultrafiltration plants allows implementing of various technological processes with resource-savi… Show more

“…Cellulose acetate (CA) and thin-film composite (TFC) membranes are attracting industry interest, and the TFC membrane is attractive for its ability to reject solutes. CAs and aromatic polyamides (APs) are the active polymer derivatives used for RO membrane coatings (Sagle and Freeman, 2004;Ahmed et al, 2015;Makisha, 2019;Alanood et al, 2021).…”

“…For this process to occur, high pressure must be exerted on the high concentration side of the membrane [119,120]. Among the areas of RO use, it is worth mentioning water recycling processes and metal recovery purposes [121]. RO proved to be the easiest approach of desalting seawater and brackish water.…”

“…Literature studies deal with removing heavy metals by means of different types of RO membranes, and the effects of different working parameters are being investigated [121][122][123]. Furthermore, one study compared RO and NF.…”
