Abstract: Infection by pathogenic mycobacteria such asMycobacterium tuberculosisdisrupts the membrane of the Mycobacterium-Containing Vacuole (MCV). The key effector EsxA, secreted via the ESX-1 type-VII system, is pivotal in this process, yet its membranolytic activity is not fully elucidated.
