MEMS 3D DR/GPS Integrated System for Land Vehicle Application Robust to GPS Outages

Abstract: In this paper, we propose a MEMS 3D DR/GPS integrated system which provides 3D attitude and position information for land vehicle application. Since low-cost MEMS-IMU provides data with large bias, it is hard to obtain an accurate position of the land vehicle, especially during GPS outages. To improve the performance of the MEMS-based navigation system, odometer-based 3D DR/GPS formulation is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses 1D speed information for obtaining 3D position and extended Kalman filter (EKF) t… Show more

“…In recent years, the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) represented by neural network (NN) provides inspiration and new ideas for solving navigation problems [3], [4]. With the development of AI technology, various theoretical models and algorithms based on NN are introduced into integrated navigation and information fusion to improve the continuity of the integrated navigation system and enhance the navigation accuracy in GPS-denied environments [17], [18].…”

“…The devices can be found almost everywhere, from smartphones and the internet-of-things to clothes and many other applications. Most importantly, MEMS accelerometers are used in GPS-aided navigation systems [5][6][7], and military [8], automotive [9], aerospace [10] and medical devices [11][12][13][14]. Thanks to their miniature size they can also be easily used in healthcare applications.…”

“…With the rapid development of MEMS technology, more attention has been paid to the application of MEMS devices in micromechanical structures [1], [2]. Planar microspring is a typical MEMS device, whose elasticity in three coordinate directions is essential and is widely used in carbon nanotubes, micro-inertial switches, micro-accelerometers, microgyroscopes, and other materials and devices [3]- [9].…”
