Merged molecular switches excel as optoacoustic dyes: azobenzene-cyanines are loud and photostable NIR imaging agents

Abstract: Optoacoustic imaging, also known as photoacoustic imaging, promises micron-resolution noninvasive imaging in biology at much deeper penetration (>cm) depths than e.g. fluorescence.
