Meshing Error of Elliptic Cylinder Gear Based on Tooth Contact Analysis

Abstract: In order to study the dynamic meshing characteristics of the elliptic cylinder gear and obtain the meshing error of the gear transmission system, the two-dimensional static contact analysis of the gear tooth surface is carried out using ANSYS software, and the key parts of the contact area of the tooth surface are determined. Then, the dynamic meshing model of the elliptic cylinder gear is established and the dynamic contact process under load is simulated by ANSYS LS-DYNA software. The distribution law of eff… Show more

“…A setback in these works is the difference in shape and dimension of the teeth located around NCGs since these are gears with asymmetrical tooth profiles. The NCGs is different from standard cylindrical gears with the constant gear ratio [24][25][26]. The tooth thickness changes along with centrodes in the generation by a standard rack-cutter, and at places where the radius of the centrodes is small, the tooth are often undercutting.…”

“…The non-circular gear transmission system represented by elliptic gear has a strong bearing capacity, a compact structure, and a variable ratio transmission. It is mainly used in low speed and high torque occasions, such as rotary vane engines, hydraulic pumps, hydraulic motors, printing presses, packaging machines, textile equipment, spacecraft frequency converters, tank fire control systems [5] and [6], continuously variable transmissions (CVT) [7], etc. Considering the expansion of its applications and the key role and special requirements in the transmission, it is meaningful to carry out in-depth research on the transmission efficiency of the elliptic gear transmission system.…”
