The role of technology continually increasing and its use is becoming no longer an option but inevitable in all fields of education. From teachers to students, technology literacy and the knowledge and skills to use it are now expected. Along with studies on the adequacy, skills, and approaches of students and educators from all levels regarding the use of technology, the attitudes of all these groups towards technology also fall under the scope of educational researchers. This study investigates whether the attitudes of pre-service mathematics teachers towards digital technology differ according to gender, university type, department, grade level and final grades in information technology courses, using statistical methods. The data set consists of the survey results of 440 mathematics pre-service teachers from two universities. According to the statistical results of the research, significant differences have been found in the attitudes of mathematics pre-service teachers towards digital technology in the sub-dimensions of technology use, conscious use of technology, and game-oriented use of technology, by gender; in the sub-dimensions of interest and willingness, technology use, and social media, by university type; and in the sub-dimensions of technology use and negative factors, based on the final grades of the information technology course. According to the data mining algorithms of the research, the branches generated by the Random Tree algorithm yielded the best results. According to the Random Tree algorithm, it was concluded that gender is the most dominant factor affecting the attitudes of mathematics pre-service teachers towards digital technology.

Oryantiring sporu her yaşta herkesin yapabileceği bir arazi sporudur. İsveç’te ortaya çıkan bu spor her türlü arazide (şehir, park, okul, vb) yapılabilir. Bütün dünyada olduğu gibi Türkiye’de de popülerliği artan bir spor olma yolunda ilerlemektedir. 2006 yılında Türkiye Oryantiring federasyonu kurulmuş ve yapılan faaliyetlerle sporcu katılım sayısı hızla artmıştır. Harita ve pusula yardımıyla en kısa sürede belirlenmiş kontrol noktalarını bulmayı hedefleyen bu sporda kondisyon düzeyi oldukça önemlidir. Farklı arazi yapıları ve farklı oryantiring mesafeleri bu spora özgü bir kondisyon antrenmanı gerektirir. Bu sporda sporcu hem iyi bir harita okuma yeteneğine hem de iyi bir kondisyona sahip olmalıdır. Dayanıklılığın iyi olması gerekirken aynı zamanda sprint ve kuvvet özelliğine ihtiyaç duyulan bir branştır. Erken yaşlarda bu spora başlamak, özellikle harita okuma becerisinin gelişmesi için oldukça önemlidir. Böylece, erken yaşlarda oryantiring sporu için gerekli olan uzamsal görselleştirme becerisi de gelişmiş olur. Bu yüzden oryantiring sporunda da uzun dönemli sporcu gelişim modeli önemli bir yere sahiptir. Oryantiring sporunda aerobik antrenman, aerobik antrenmanlar, kuvvet, denge ve esneklik çalışmaları önemlidir. Ayrıca devamlı koşu antrenmanları yapılırken harita ile yapılacak çalışmalar da tercih edilmektedir. Bu kitap bölümünde oryantiring sporunda önemli olan kondisyonel beceriler ele alınmıştır.

Academic motivation types and learning styles of students in a faculty of education

This paper aimed to report the results of a descriptive correlational study that examined the relationship between academic motivation and learning styles of pre-service teachers. The study’s participants were 574 pre-service teachers at the Faculty of Education, University of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat. Two research instruments (Academic Motivation Scale and Learning Styles Inventory) were used for collecting the data. Keeping the aim in mind, three hypotheses were formulated and the pearson’s chi-square test was run in SPSS so as to test the possible relationships in the hypotheses. According to the analysis of the data, the first hypothesis was confirmed while the second and third hypotheses were rejected. Thus, the dominant academic motivation type of converger and accommodator pre-service teachers was external regulation while the preservice teachers with assimilating learning styles were more likely to have knowing motivation. Besides, diverger pre-service teachers preferred either “knowing” or “external regulation” academic motivation type. Last, departments of the pre-service teachers did not determine their academic motivation types and learning styles.
