“…This event is widespread over South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Antarctica over an estimated paleo-surface of ca. 2.5 × 10 6 km 2 (Hanson et al, 2004;Becker et al, 2006;Hanson et al, 2006;Jourdan et al, 2009). The possibility that the Congo Craton has also shared this magmatic event at 1.1 Ga has been recently suggested by Ernst et al (2013).…”

“…3). It includes the Kgwebe Formation of Botswana and the Sinclair and Nauzerus groups of Namibia (Becker et al 2006 and references therein). The Sinclair Group includes four thick, conformable volcano-sedimentary cycles deposited in north-south elongated basins (Watters, 1974;Borg, 1988;Hoal, 1990;1993).…”

“…SHRIMP U-Pb zircon dating (Robb et al 1998) indicated two crust-forming events in the Namaqua Complex at 1,220-1,170 Ma (Kibarian) and 1,060-1,030 Ma (Namaqualand). The Namaqua Metamorphic Complex is interpreted as a deformed and metamorphosed sedimentary passive margin succession at the west of the Kalahari craton (Becker et al 2006;McCourt et al 2006;among others). Related to the Kibarian event, there was regional deformation with granulite facies metamorphism and intrusion of granitoids represented by the Nababeep and Modderfontein gneisses.…”
