“…Having started feeds with a polymeric formula, the baby started vomiting and it is hypothesized that vomiting combined with the predisposition to mucosal damage was the cause of GP. The mild eosinophilia invokes another risk factor for GP with the possibility of an allergic gastropathy brought on by the polymeric formula [2,5]. There is merit in suggesting the use of semi-elemental formula in children after major bowel surgery but it should also be considered for use after other procedures, such as cardiac surgery, if bowel ischemia is suggested.…”
