Metabolic Encephalopathy

Abstract: Disorders of metabolism are the most common cause of coma of unknown etiology. Hyperammonemia is important as an etiologic factor in the development of hepatic encephalopathy, operating via direct and indirect mechansims that affect the function of the limbic system.
