“…The severity of AP can be predicted based upon clinical, laboratory, and radiologic risk factors, several score systems, and biomarkers. However, the complex mechanism of AP and its association with a progressive SIRS with high morbidity and mortality is not fully understood, and robust prognostic biomarkers are necessary [ 47 , 48 ]. Unfortunately, none has yet proven to be an excellent accurate predictor of the clinical course of AP.…”

“…So, regulating the metabolism of amino acids may serve as a potential therapy for SAP-AKI. The previous study has elucidated the capability of Chinese medicine to treat acute pancreatitis by altering the metabolic profile [ 16 ]. As expected, the unique metabolic phenotypes of amino acids in SAP-AKI and after ZYD treatment are presented in the scatter plot of PCA and PLS-DA.…”

“…Another group also reported similar results in 5% sodium taurocholate infusion‐induced SAP, and superior results were reported in combination with emodin (Zhang et al , ). Li et al also reported a role of antiinflammatory activity behind the protection (Li et al , ,b). Moreover, it could effectively check the renal injury induced by SAP.…”

“…Li et al , utilized a novel approach based on metabolomic profile for assessing the efficacy of DTD. They came up with some interesting results clearly showing the efficacy of DTD based on higher levels of plasma glycerol, glutamic acid, low density lipoprotein, saturated fatty acid and lower levels of alanine and glutamine in DTD‐treated rats (Li et al , ,b). This interesting attempt to understand the mechanism of phytoceuticals in SAP can be of great value in the future as it opens up a whole new avenue to shed light on the metabolomics upon treatment with molecule of interest.…”
