“…Qili qiangxin capsule, a traditional Chinese medicine, has been approved in China to be used in combination therapy for chronic HF 34. Of note, several other traditional Chinese medicines such as Huangqi injection, Berberine, Shenfu decoction, Shengmai, Hawthorn, Curcumin, Resveratrol and Cannabinoids may have potential therapeutic use in HF as adjunctive treatments in clinical practice or animal models of human disease 31, 37, 38, 39, 40. All these findings manifest that herbal medicine products play more and more important role in modern medical therapy.…”

“…studied the therapeutic effects of shenfu decoction in urine samples from rats with chronic heart failure and detected 16 TCA cycle metabolites whose levels are altered by treatment with the above decoction. These included citrate and L-tyrosine, and L-tryptophan, the latter two of which are related to tyrosine and tryptophan metabolism [39]. In this study of SFZYD decoction, we identified 27 metabolites whose expression level changes correlated with changes in biomarker networks after SFZYD treatment in systemic inflammation and hepatic steatosis.…”

“…From the perspective of TCM, CHF may occur in all differentiation types, including qi deficiency and blood stasis, yang deficiency and water retention, yin deficiency, and so on. Many Chinese herbs have demonstrated safety and efficacy in the management of chronic heart failure in either animal models or humans [42,43]. In addition, modern biologic research has entered an era of integrating various research technologies and methods to tackle difficult biological problems at biomolecular level as a whole, which is exemplified by studies in the new scientific fields of metabolomics.…”
