Schizotypal personality disorder represents a broad range of maladaptive behaviour, which has been linked to both personality disorder and schizophrenia spectrum disorders; however, to date, little effort has been devoted to developing psychosocial treatment approaches to address it. In response, we conducted two case studies exploring the effects of two metacognitively oriented forms of psychotherapy: metacognitive interpersonal therapy and metacognitive reflection and insight therapy for patients with schizotypal personality disorder. We chose these two forms of therapy as they have been successfully delivered, respectively, to persons with other personality disorders and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Both treatments consisted of weekly individual psychotherapy sessions over a period of 6 months. General symptoms were assessed during the first week of treatment, at treatment end and at 1 month following treatment using the Symptom Check List‐90—Revised, while schizotypal traits were assessed with the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM‐5. Both patients completed all sessions, and there were no reports of any adverse outcomes. Both patients achieved reliable change in symptoms (ranging from 4.98 to 9.81) and a significant reduction in schizotypal features. Results provide preliminary evidence of the feasibility of metacognitively oriented interventions for schizotypal personality disorder. © 2019 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

There is evidence that a key feature in borderline personality disorder (BPD) is the difficulty to reflect on one's own as well as on other people's state of mind. So far, no study has examined the link between metacognition and symptom change presented by BPD patients across treatment. This preliminary pilot study represents a first step in describing impairments in different dimensions of metacognition and their connection with the symptoms presented by a N ϭ 10 BPD sample. The transcripts from the first and the penultimate session of a 10-session version of Good Psychiatric Management were analyzed. The global score and the 3 subscales of the Metacognition Assessment Scale-Revised were used to assess metacognitive abilities: Understanding of one's own mind, Understanding of other's mind, and Mastery. Symptoms were assessed with the Outcome Questionnaire-45.2. Results show a general low level of metacognition. Therapy sessions with BPD patients seem to be characterized by impairments in metacognition, notably in the reflection on other's states of mind and in the use of this information to solve conflicts and problems. Moreover, sessions highlighting a higher level of the Understanding of other's mind at the onset of treatment were linked with better outcome compared to sessions showing poorer metacognitive abilities in this area. Implications for an integrated treatment for BPD and future research are discussed.

The term "attachment" is used to imply the bonding between mother and child or the relationship between parents and child. Establishment of secure attachment is the healthiest way for the mental and physical development of the child. Secure attachment system constitutes a protection mechanism from high levels of stress. Insecurely attached children are presented with mental and physical developmental delays and problems in identity formation and personality in the future. To avoid all these, all the requirements of the child by means of affection, nutrition, protection, shelter and health are required to be met in a consistent and healthy way by the caregiver. This review article discuss the term attachment; features associated with insecure attachment and its negative influences in adulthood. Key words: Attachment, secure attachment, outcome. ÖZÇocuk ve ebeveyni arasında kurulan bağ ilişkisine, "bağlanma" adı verilir. "Bağlanma" dendiğinde anne-çocuk arasındaki ilişki, ebeveyn-çocuk arasındaki ilişki veya temel bakım veren-çocuk arasındaki ilişki kast edilmektedir. Çocuğun ruhsal ve fiziksel gelişimi açısından en ideal ve sağlıklı olanı güvenli bir bağlanmanın temin edilmesidir. Güvenli bağlanma çocuğu yüksek düzey stresten koruyan bir mekanizma teşkil eder. Güvensiz bağlanma geliştirmiş olan bireyleri ilerleyen zamanda zihinsel ve fiziksel açıdan gelişimsel gerilikler, kimlik oluşmasında sorunlar, kişilik sorunları ve diğer ruhsal sorunlar beklemektedir. Güvenli bağlanma için, çocuğun temel şevkât, beslenme, korunma, barınma ve sağlık ihtiyaçlarının hepsinin sağlam, tutarlı şekilde karşılanması gereklidir. Bu gözden geçirme makalesinde, bağlanma kavramının özellikleri, çocukta güvensiz bağlanmanın özellikleri ve erişkin hayata olumsuz yansımaları ele alınacaktır.
