Abstract:An efficient approach for the construction of β‐ketosulfones has been developed by the direct oxysulfonylation of styrene with N‐hydroxy aryl sulfonamide. The metal‐free reaction proceeds smoothly in the presence of the iodine/TBHP system and ethanol medium to provide diverse β‐ketosulfones in good yields. Moreover, readily available starting materials, a broad range of functional group tolerance, a radical pathway, greener solvents, and mild conditions are the advantageous points of the present protocol.
