Abstract

Throughout the writing of this dissertation I have received a great deal of support and assistance. I would first like to thank my supervisor, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Hasenstab-Riedel, for the opportunity to conduct my doctoral thesis in his group, for the interesting topic, for his support, and for his encouraging enthusiasm.
