“…The photoinduced [6π + 2π]-cycloaddition of tricarbonyl­(η 4 -cycloheptatriene)­iron­(0) to disubstituted alkynes was first reported by Pettit et al Later, photoinduced [6π + 2π]-cycloaddition of Cr­(CO) 3 -coordinated CHT to alkynes was demonstrated by Grevels et al . and comprehensively studied by Sheridan et al At almost the same time, Mach and co-workers carried out the first cyclo-codimerization of CHT with alkynes mediated by the Ziegler–Natta catalyst (TiCl 4 –Et 2 AlCl). Simultaneously, Cr-promoted [6π + 2π + 2π]-cycloaddition between alkynes and CHTs has been discussed, resulting in the formation of tetra- and pentacyclic adducts.…”
