Metal–metal bonded pentamolybdate hybrids as electron storage materials

Meng Cao,
Jie Zi,
Ruili Sang
et al.

Abstract: Hybrid-POM1/2 with 3D/2D supramolecular structure exhibit a high electrical conductivity due to the electron-rich structure and sliped π stacking interaction, hence excellent electrochemical performance as cathode materials.

“…As a class of excellent metal oxide nanoclusters, polyoxometalates (POMs) have advantages of adjustable composition, clear structure, excellent redox performance, etc., and have potential applications in catalysis, optics, medicine, electrochemistry, and other fields. The surface of POMs has abundant oxygen atoms and high electronegativity, so it has the ability to provide electrons to electron acceptors . Due to its electron-rich property, combining it with electron-deficient viologen compounds can promote the electron transfer of viologen compounds, which can speed up their color-changing process. In this paper, we introduced two kinds of viologens to the POM field, namely, 1-(3,5-dimethyl-isoxazol-4-ylmethyl)-[4,4’]bipyridinyl-1-ium chloride (dibipy·Cl) and 1-(4-nitro-benzyl)-[4,4’]bipyridinyl-1-ium chloride (nibipy·Cl, Scheme ).…”
