“…The southern part of the high grade metamorphic terrain of South India comprises a vast supracrustal belt termed as the Kerala Khondalite Belt (KKB Chacko et al, 1987; also termed as Trivandrum Granulite Block or TGB Santosh, 1996) (Fig. 1).…”

“…The Trivandrum Granulite Block (TGB) in the southern part of this terrane consists dominantly of garnet -sillimanite -bearing pelitic granulite (khondalite), quartzo -feldspathic garnet -biotite gneiss (leptynite), charnockite, and subordinate bands and lenses of pyroxene granulite and calc -silicate rocks. Previous petrological studies suggest that the block has been subjected to ultrahigh -temperature (UHT) peak metamorphism at ~ 950 °C and ~ 8 kbar (Chacko et al, 1996;Nandakumar and Harley, 2000;Satish -Kumar et al, 2002;Morimoto et al, 2004) followed by isothermal decompression along a clockwise P -T trajectory (Chacko et al, 1987). Such P -T conditions were, however, mostly derived from the western part of the TGB (wTGB) in Kerala state, and detailed petrologic and geotheromobarometric studies on granulites from the eastern part of the TGB (eTGB) are scarce.…”

“…These plutons are emplaced at the north ern (CR) and southern (PU) margin of a wide granulite facies supracrustal belt known as the Kerala Khondalite Belt (KKB; Chacko et al, 1987). The aluminous metapelites in this region are characterized by 8180 values of ca.…”
