Abstract:Bidirectional promoters (BDPs) are ubiquitous as they facilitate gene co-expression within functional groups of genes or metabolic pathways. They help to balance enzymatic expression to maintain a stoichiometric relationship and avoid cellular toxicity. While BDPs offer several benefits over single-gene expression cassettes, functionally defined BDPs are scarce and usually unsuited for multi-gene expression in synthetic biology and metabolic engineering efforts. In this paper, we describe the fabrication of BD… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
