Method for Strengthening Parts of Internal Combustion Engines by Surfacing of Ceramic Materials

Abstract: The paper presents a method for strengthening parts of internal combustion engines using timing exhaust valves as an example. To strengthen the working surface of the valve disc, a coating based on a metal-ceramic powder composition, fused with a short-pulse laser system, was used. Studies of the physical and mechanical characteristics of the strengthening coating have been carried out, and the service life of the reinforced exhaust valve has been assessed.
