Method of blind reconstruction for trellis‐coded modulation codes

Abstract: Since trellis-coded modulation (TCM) was introduced, it was quickly adopted in modem standards. Unlike blind reconstruction for normal channel coding, blind reconstruction for TCM codes not only requires identifying the correct generator matrix, but also the correct type of constellation mapping. So far this has seldom been reported. This study proposes a method which recognises the generator matrix and the mapping mode of TCM codes. Based on its construction and properties, the generator matrix can be correct… Show more

“…As a code reverse engineering problem [1], blind recognition of channel codes has gradually become a research hotspot in the fields such as adaptive modulation and coding [2] and cognitive radio [3]. The previous works about this problem mainly focused on traditional Nyquist signalling system, the main methods to blindly recognise the encoder parameters are based on the algebraic properties of the parity check matrix [4][5][6] or the specific structure of the encoder [7,8]. However, none of the researchers have considered the blind recognition problem in the faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) signalling system.…”
