Methodological roadmapping: a study of centering resonance analysis

Abstract: Purpose-This paper aims to map the creation and evolution of centering resonance analysis (CRA). This method was an innovative approach developed to conduct textual content analysis in a semi-automatic, theory-informed and analytically rigorous way. Nevertheless, despite its robust procedures to analyze documents and interviews, CRA is still broadly unknown and scarcely used in management research. Design/methodology/approach-To track CRA's development, the roadmapping approach was properly adapted. The tradit… Show more

“…A case study research design was employed to understand the approaches used by ESL teachers to eliminate grammatical difficulties that hinder learners' writing. Freitas et al (2017) noted that conducting research using a case study allows researchers to immerse themselves in the context and gain intensive knowledge of a phenomenon, which in turn demands suitable methodological principles.…”

“…For a specific phenomenon, e-commerce poverty alleviation as a new thing involves many bodies, we adopt the maximum variation sampling strategy as a research strategy ( Eisenhardt, 1989 ; Voss et al, 2002 ). It can deeply explain and analyze all its variations, and explore its law of development ( Creswell, 1998 ; Merriam, 2009 ; Freitas et al, 2018 ). Now rural e-commerce has fully exploded.…”

“…These centers, as Jonathan Freitas et al point out, are primarily nouns and adjectives (i.e., noun phrases) that work as the subject or object of a sentence (2018, p. 463). Therefore, according to Freitas et al (2018), the more these centers refer to each other (both retrospectively and prospectively), the more a discourse becomes coherent (p. 463). Through graphic networked representation, CRA does not capture the frequency of texts because the frequency of a particular word is not regarded indicative of its importance but outlines a relational structure that combines interdependent semantic units (e.g., words) within the context (Song & Lee, 2017, p. 1466.…”
