“…PEO coatings consisting of niobium oxides can be prepared directly by anodizing niobium foils [ 27–33 ] or by anodizing another metal substrate in the presence of Nb compounds in the electrolyte. [ 5,34 ] The main advantages of the second approach are as follows: 1) decreases the cost of the coating synthesis because pure niobium substrates are relatively expensive, 2) combines with other different oxides to tailor a specific property, and 3) produces a highly valuable composite when combining with a cheap substrate.
