ABSTRACT:The aim of this work was describe the germination and evaluate the desiccation and reduction in desiccation sensitivity of Hancornia speciosa Gomes seeds. Initially, we evaluated the germination characteristics and morphophysiological aspects of seedlings. The seeds in the first experiment were subjected to fast desiccation (activated silica gel) and slow desiccation (laboratory conditions) until the water content reached 40%, 30%, 20%, and 15% ± 2%. To reduce the desiccation sensitivity, in the second experiment, the seeds were soaked in polyethylene glycol (PEG) at potentials of -0.1 and -0.3 MPa for 120 h, with or without abscisic acid (ABA) (10 -4 µM), and subsequently subjected to fast desiccation until a water content of 15% was reached, based on the results from the first experiment. The seed vigor in both experiments was evaluated by the primary root protrusion tests, percentage of normal seedlings, germination speed index, length and mass (shoot, underground, and total). Seedlings of H. speciosa feature a stem-like xylopodium structure. The seeds were tolerant to water reduction up to 15% by fast desiccation and 30% by slow desiccation. Moreover, priming was not efficient in reducing the desiccation sensitivity of H. speciosa seeds.

resumo -A mangabeira (Hancornia speciosa Gomes) é uma árvore nativa do Brasil, cujo fruto é obtido predominantemente de forma extrativista e apreciado tanto in natura quanto na forma de polpas, geleias, doces. As raízes, cascas e látex possuem uso medicinal e sua madeira é usada como combustível. Ocorre do Nordeste até os Cerrados das regiões Centro-Oeste, Norte e Sudeste. Entende-se que estudos científicos sobre espécies nativas de base extrativista são essenciais a fim de subsidiar estratégias para a conservação da espécie. O presente trabalho objetivou analisar as publicações acadêmicas sobre a mangabeira disponíveis na plataforma de periódicos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes), utilizando os princípios da bibliometria. As buscas aconteceram por meio das palavras chave: "mangaba", "mangabeira" e "Hancornia speciosa Gomes", o que resultou em 103 publicações sobre a espécie. Essas publicações foram classificadas de acordo com o ano, o tipo e o periódico de publicação; e, de acordo com o seu conteúdo, enquadradas nas áreas de conhecimento estabelecidas pela Capes. Após o enquadramento verificou-se que 40,8% das pesquisas estão relacionadas às Ciências Biológicas, 19,4% às Ciências de Alimentos, 13,6% às Ciências Agrárias, 10,7% às Ciências da Saúde, 7,8% às Ciências Multidisciplinares e 1,9% às Ciências Sociais Aplicadas. Constatou-se que há poucos estudos sobre aspectos socioeconômicos, ecológicos e culturais, o que indica a necessidade de mais estudos sob esses enfoques para subsidiar estratégias para a conservação da espécie. ABSTRACT:Hancornia speciosa Gomes is a fruit species belonging to the Apocynaceae family and holds social, cultural and economic potential mostly due to its use in composition of many food industry products and the consumption its fruits in natura. Several aspects regarding their propagation need further studies, since the species is undergoing a continuous process of domestication. The objective was to obtain an in vitro protocol for indirect organogenesis and rooting with subsequent acclimatization of H. speciosa plants. To obtain indirect organogenesis, internodal segments were inoculated in WPM culture medium gelled with 7 g L -1 agar, added with 30 g L -1 sucrose, 0.4 g L -1 PVP, and supplied with different concentrations of 2,4-D (0.0; 2.46; 7.38; 12.30; and 17.22 µM), BAP (0.0; 4.92; 9.84; 14.76; and 19.68 µM), and TDZ (0.0; 4.92; 9.84; 14.76; and 19.68 µM). For the in vitro rooting, shootings with approximately 6.0 cm diameter length kept for 15 days in WPM medium with no plant growth regulator and, afterwards, subjected to treatments with different auxins (Control; 9.84 µM IBA; 9.84 µM NAA; and 9.84 µM IAA) as well as the combination among them, in order to verify their effects on percentage of rooting (%), number of roots, and average length of the largest root (cm). The formation of calluses was observed in all explants subjected to the concentrations of the regulators tested. The highest shooting regeneration occurred with 7.38 µM 2,4-D (73%). The highest percentage of shoot rooting (80%) and roots with the largest length (1.3 cm) were found in the culture medium with the combination of 4.92 µM NAA and 4.92 µM IBA. The in vitro regeneration of H. speciosa is feasible. The acclimatization of rooted shoots in Trospstrato® was accomplished with successful and 100% survival of plant material was observed during this stage.
