Micro-inverter for integrated grid-tie photovoltaic module using resonant controller

Abstract: SUMMARY Two‐stage isolated converters for photovoltaic (PV) applications commonly employ a high‐frequency transformer (HFT) on the DC–DC side, submitting the DC–AC inverter switches to high voltages and forcing the use of insulated‐gate bipolar transistors instead of low‐voltage and low‐loss metal‐oxide‐semiconductor field‐effect transistors. This paper shows the modeling, control and simulation of a single‐phase full‐bridge inverter with HFT that can be used as part of a two‐stage converter with transformerle… Show more

“…By selecting the capacitors' voltages E 1 (t), E 2 (t) and the grid current i g (t) as state variables X(t) = [E 1 (t) E 2 (t) i grid (t)] T , and the switching patterns U(t) = [u 3 u 2 u 1 ] T as the control vector (u j ϵ{0,1}, j = 1,2,3), then the state space model could be derived by (1).…”

“…Within this trend, structures of utility scale PV inverters are moving toward multilevel topologies, which provide better power quality, lighter passive filtering components, and capability to remove bulky line frequency transformers. A number of papers have recently appeared in the scientific literature dealing with multilevel inverters investigating, among many structures, cascaded H‐bridge inverters, modular multilevel converters, stacked multicell converter, packed U cells inverters, flying capacitors inverters (FCIs),, and quasi‐Z‐source multilevel converters …”

“…Variable and intermittent behavior of renewable resources such as ocean wave energy is a serious challenge in the context of renewable energies [29][30][31][32][33]. In order to effectively integrate the ocean wave-generated electricity, the PTO should satisfy the distribution code requirements [34].…”

“…The photovoltaic (PV) micro-inverter has been recognized as an attractive solution for the grid-connected PV system applications in the previous years because of its improved energy harvesting ability under shaded conditions, safe and simple installation, and a lack of power mismatch between the PV modules. [1][2][3] A lot of research have been done to find an appropriate inverter topology, which satisfies requirements, such as maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of the PV module, high efficiency, low cost, longevity, and galvanic isolation. Among them, the flyback-based microinverter is regarded as an attractive solution due to its simple structure and control, lower cost, and also electric isolation.…”
