“…Although the platinum concentration of tumor epithelium was not significantly correlated with clinical or histological response, the higher concentration of accumulated platinum in the CC3‐positive degenerated area than in the CC3‐negative viable tumor epithelium in our study could support this notion. These findings suggest that l ‐OHP‐based chemotherapy was effective in patients when the drugs were sufficiently delivered to cancer cells, as reported previously . In their studies using cell lines or bulk tissues, it is difficult to investigate the effect of the tumor stroma, which constitutes a distinctive microenvironment, thus further study investigating the in situ accumulation of platinum in the tumor epithelium and stroma as well as chronological change of its distribution after administration of chemotherapeutic agent is mandatory.…”
