Microbial Community Structure of Paddy Soil Under Long-term Fertilizer Treatment Using Phospholipid Fatty Acid (PLFA) Analysis

Abstract: Understanding the microbial community structure of agricultural soils is important for better soil management in order to improve soil quality. Phospholipid fatty acid analysis has been popularly used in determining the microbial community structure in different ecosystems. The microbial community structure of paddy soil under long-term fertilizer treatments was investigated after 45 years using PLFA analysis. Treatments were control (no fertilization, Con), compost (COM), NPK, NPK+compost (NPKC), PK, NK, and … Show more

“…Carbon and nitrogen contents in HF and LF Total carbon and nitrogen contents in plow layer (~15 cm) were significantly affected by fertilization type as shown in Tables 2 and 3 ). These results are in good agreement with the previous results (Lee et al, 2004;Zhang and He, 2004;Gong et al, 2009;Daquiado et al, 2013;Yang et al, 2015). Carbon content in NPK-Com was somewhat higher compared to the mean equilibrium value (about 20 g kg -1 ) reported by Zhang and He (2004).…”

“…The experimental field with different types of fertilization was classified into Pyeongtaeg series (somewhat poorly drained fine silty mixed mesic, Typic Haplaquepts). The detailed experiment design and cultivation background were described by Lee et al (2004) and Daquiado et al (2013). Four plots were selected in this study (see a Table Separation of heavy and light fractions Soil samples were collected from the plow layer (0 -15 cm) in November 2013 after harvest.…”
