Microencapsulation of Cannabidiol in Liposomes as Coating for Cellulose for Potential Advanced Sanitary Material

Abstract: The microencapsulation of the cannabidiol and its integration into the tampon can eliminate vaginal inflammation, which at the same time lead to relaxation of the abdominal muscles. The tampon, which contains the active substance cannabidiol (CBD), was developed as an advanced fibrous composite for sanitary application. The active substances were microencapsulated, and, as a carrier, liposomes micro/nano capsules were used. The CBD liposome formulation was analyzed by particle size, polydispersity index, zeta … Show more

“…The loadings on PC1 and PC3 are almost identical, yet the loading of the carbonyl (C=O) band at 1744 cm −1 is very high on PC1 (Figure 9). 44 For the NIR spectra, lipids are shown at 5780 cm −1 , 5681 cm −1 , 4300 cm −1 , and 4255 cm −1 while aromatic hydrocarbons present in cannabinoids, like CBD, are typically present at 6000 cm −1 45 . Figure 10 represents the plot of loadings according to PC3 showing the spectral regions of lipids (C=O bands), and Figure 11 shows the plot of loadings according to PC1, which may be related to the CBD signal.…”

“…It can be seen that the films containing cannabis oil exhibited a higher degradation rate as compared to pure chitosan. As the concentration of oil in the films increased, the degradation of the samples increased, which may be due to the presence of partially biodegradable cannabidiol but also due to the more hydrophilic properties and more accessible access of water to the film components 73 .…”
