“…Consistent with the role of frontocortical dopaminergic mechanisms in cognitive function (Robbins, 2002;Tanaka, 2006;El-Ghundi et al, 2007), microinjection of S33138 into the FCX improved social recognition. Although effects of frontocortical administration of mixed D 2 /D 3 antagonists have proven variable in other models, this finding suggests that instances of procognitive actions reflect blockade of D 3 rather than D 2 receptors (Passetti et al, 2001;Chudasama and Robbins, 2004;Pakdel and Rashidy-Pour, 2007). The present observations also accord with evidence that a dysfunction of the FCX contributes to disturbed social cognition in schizophrenia (Lee et al, 2006).…”

“…Furthermore, other forms of memory such as inhibitory avoidance and conditioned fear extinction have also been linked to D 2 receptor deactivation in other brain areas (Pakdel & Rashidy-Pour, 2007;Ponnusamy, Nissim, & Barad, 2005).…”

“…While promoting new learning, acute corticosterone increases may impair reconsolidation of existing memories (Cai, Blundell, Han, Greene, & Powell, 2006; Pakdel & Rashidy-Pour, 2007) providing an additional mechanism for the creation of adaptive memories for clinical interventions.…”
