Microsatellite DNA marker aided diversity analysis in frenchbean (Phaseolus vulgarisL.)

Abstract: Sixty four french bean genotypes were analyzed with 15 microsatellite markers to test variation. Among the total 15 SSR primers used, 10 primers were polymorphic and 5 were monomorphic. Of the 15 SSR primers used, 10 primer pairs showed polymorphism. The number of alleles produced by different primers ranged from two to four. The high level of polymorphism (66.66%) was obtained. The cluster construction based on SSR marker data revealed significant genetic variation among the genotypes. SSR marker system showe… Show more

“…However, our results suggest that ISSR-PCR products generated with di-nucleotide motif primers can be useful markers for analyses of French bean germplasms. Similarity value based on Jaccard's coefficient clearly demonstrates that overall similarity between genotypes was low, reflecting strong genetic differentiation among the lines tested and our results were in accordance with previous investigators (Alghamdi et al 2011;Immaculee et al 2015, Jannat et al 2022.…”

“…Comparative studies in legumes involving SSR have been successfully used by few researchers either as individual marker or in combination in crops like Vigna unguiculata (Gillaspie et al, 1996) and Vigna sp. (Dikshit et al, 2007), Phaseolus vulgaris (Immaculee et al, 2015).…”
