Microscopic Simulation of Cruising for Parking of Trucks as a Measure to Manage Freight Loading Zone

Abstract: This paper investigated economic truck parking behavior to implement comprehensive Freight Loading Zone (FLZ) policies. We assumed that the delivery trucks can only park on FLZ. The proposed contribution is to quantify the cruising for parking time of trucks. We used a microscopic traffic simulation based on a Manhattan network and the real network of Lyon (France). This paper explored the relationship between the searching time, the parking probabilities and the region’s parking density. Based on research res… Show more

“…Em [Lopez et al 2019], a análise do impacto de veículos de carga e descarga (caminhões e veículos utilitários leves) é considerada, apresentando modelos no PTV VIS-SIM para identificac ¸ão de rotas e atratividade de vagas de estacionamento. Neste estudo, o vício de estacionamento conhecido como "estacionar em faixa dupla" também é considerado.…”

“…Similarly, Li and Huang [29] focused on how to alleviate the traffic congestion in the old areas of metropolis, providing an improved ant colony algorithm for the road transportation planning and using traffic simulation to prove its validity. Other issues, parking, road classification, crowd shipping, and freight demand management, also rely on the traffic simulation [30][31][32][33][34]. Therefore, because of the wide applicability of traffic simulation, we decided to adopt this method to study our research questions.…”

“…The effects of urban freight transport on city mobility and congestion are significant, giving rise to such additional concerns as increases in air and noise pollution and accidents, among other things. Numerous research papers have attempted to minimize the negative impact this has, not only on traffic and congestion, but also on urban space consumption [1][2][3][4]. Thus, several measures have been proposed aimed at regulating freight vehicle access to cities [5,6], optimizing delivery routes in real time [7] through urban consolidation centers [8], regulating freight vehicle off-hour deliveries [9][10][11] and providing logistics infrastructure and facilities [12,13].…”
