Microstructural and Equilibrium Adsorption Study of the System of Waste Foundry Molding Sand/Cu (II) Ions

Abstract: MIcrostructural and equIlIbrIuM adsorptIon study of the systeM of waste foundry MoldIng sand/cu (II) IonsThis paper deals with the waste foundry molding sand which originally comes from the casting production. Adsorption of Cu (II) ions on the waste foundry molding sand was studied. Experimental data were processed using adsorption isotherms. obtained results show that the experimental data are best described by the Langmuir isotherm. The following adsorption capacities are obtained: 7.153 mg/g to 293 k, 8.403… Show more

“…The utilization of andisol soil can be optimized by adding foundry sand. Foundry sand results from dismantling metal casting molds whose primary constituent material is silica sand [7]. After being used, this waste is usually thrown away in a waste reservoir on open land around the processing site.…”

“…Very often, waste moulding mixture and slag are used in construction, but also in road construction [2,3]. In addition, tests of the adsorption properties of waste foundry materials are very widespread [4][5][6][7]. This type of research and the possibility of using it for adsorption is certainly very significant since this type of waste usually consists of metal oxides, such as SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, CaO, FeO, Fe2O3 (sand, slag, scale, waste after shot blasting), clay (binders) and carbon-based materials (various additives to improve the properties of the moulding mixture) which are known as good adsorbents.…”

“…Pemanfaatan tanah andisol dapat dioptimalkan dengan penambahan pasir foundry. Pasir foundry merupakan hasil dari bongkaran cetakan pengecoran logam yang bahan penyusun utamanya adalah pasir silika, sementara sisanya adalah zat pengikat contohnya bentonit (Strkalj et al, 2016). Setelah digunakan biasanya limbah ini dibuang begitu saja di penampungan limbah pada lahan terbuka di sekitar tempat pengolahan.…”
