Microsyringe For Small Liquid Volumes

Abstract: DURIKG some experiments oii the polarography of uranium(IT'), a buret was required for storing and dispensing 0-q-gm-sensitiye uranium(1V) stock solutions. Although three types were used for this purpose, only one was completely satisfactory. This is a modification of the sealed burets proposed by S t o w (.?) and was made of borosilicate glass in this laboratory.

“…Early procedures for silylation of phenolic compounds utilized a mixture of hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS), catalyst, solvent, and a drying agent (Langer et al, 1958). Silylation by M,0-bis(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide (BSTFA) is faster and more complete than by HMDS or 7V,0-bis(trimethylsilyl)acetamide (BSA) (Stalling et al, 1968).…”

“…Usually, the PCP is converted to its methyl ether for gas chromatography determinations (Kanazaw'a, 1963;Stanley, 1966). Phenols can also be converted to their trimethylsilyl ethers for gas chromatographic separations (Langer et al. 1958 ).…”

“…Phenols (Ismail, 1963;Langer et al, 1958) were the first compounds to be separated by gas chromatography as their silyl derivatives. Silyl ester derivatives have been used for identification of the anomers of pentoses and hexoses by gas chromatography (Bentley et al, 1963;Sweeley et al, 1963; Martin and Eib, 1968).…”
