Microwave-Assisted Synthesis and Properties of Novel Hexaazatrinaphthylene Dendritic Scaffolds

Abstract: A novel family of water-soluble π-conjugated hexaazatrinaphthylenes-based dendritic architectures constructed by hexaketocyclohexane and 1,2,4,5-benzenetetramine units is developed in a microwave-assisted organic synthesis (MAOS) approach. The structures and purity of these compounds are verified by 1H and 13C-NMR, MALDI-TOF MS, UV-vis, elemental analysis, DSC, AFM, STM and cyclic voltammetry.

“…Nitration of intermediate 7 with a mixture of HNO 3 /H 2 SO 4 at 60 °C under microwaves for 10 min gave dinitro derivative 8 in 92% yield [ 50 ], which was quantitatively reduced to diamino derivative 9 upon irradiation in the presence of CuNPS, a basic medium, and a small amount of glycerol (1 mL) within 30 min [ 51 ]. This part of the synthesis ends with the condensation of 9 with the diketone 10 under microwave irradiation at 100 °C for 30 min to afford the multicyclic compound 11 in very good yield (92%) ( Scheme 1 ) [ 52 ]. We would like to highlight both the quantitative reduction of the complex dinitro derivative 8 under microwave irradiation and the excellent yields obtained in the nitration and condensation steps: with classical heating, the yield of dinitro derivative 8 did not exceed 60%.…”

“…[22][23][24] In particular, 1,2,4,5-benzenetetramine (BTA) with rich amino groups can directly coordinate with numerous noble metal ions (e.g., AuCl 4 − , Pd 2+ and Pt 2+ ). 25,26 The delocalized π-orbitals and conjugated structure of BTA can be applied to stabilize the total structure or further link with some organic molecules. 27,28 What's more, the BTA-derived MOFs have the ability to link with active Pd 2+ units, which display excellent catalytic activity towards reactive oxygen species (ROS) during the ECL process for advanced emitters.…”
