Abstract:Sparse aperture imaging systems (SAISs) always suffer mid-frequency contrast loss because of dispersion and sparsity. This paper introduces an efficient method to enlarge the sub-aperture with the most significant effect on mid-frequency contrast compensation. This method is implemented by evaluating the mean square error between the modulation transfer function (MTF) of an SAIS and a monolithic aperture system with matching cutoff frequency. Two array configurations with different sub-apertures enlarged by va… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
