“…In PCOS, recent studies in animal models and patient populations have shown that therapeutic interventions can influence DNA methylation and phenotypic changes in tissues affected by the disease [ 26 , 27 ], raising the possibility of therapeutic interventions Recently, there has been a resurgence of interest in traditional mind–body therapeutic practices as psychological interventions for various chronic medical conditions [ 28 ]. Mind–body interventions (MBI) are a group of diverse techniques that focus on the interactions between mind, brain, body, and behavior and aim to reduce stress and increase acceptance through long-term personality changes [ 29 ]. Some of them include an active physical component [ 30 ], while others focus mainly on meditation and relaxation techniques [ 31 , 32 ].…”

“…48 Mind-body interventions such as yoga and mindful meditation are a group of various techniques focusing on mindfulness and paying attention to one's thoughts and physical sensations with the aim of reducing stress and increasing acceptance. 49 A RCT in Greece explored the impact of an 8-week mindfulness stress management program on measures of depression and anxiety in women with PCOS. The 23 women randomized to the intervention group were noted to have significant reductions in depressive symptoms as measured by the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS21) compared to the 15 women in the control group (mean: 17.2 AE 10.0 vs. 4.3 AE 3.3, p ¼ 0.011) along with reductions in salivary cortisol levels (p ¼ 0.001), with no significant changes observed between intervention and control groups for anxiety.…”

“…A rapidly growing field of evidence supports the potential for mind-body interventions to improve various factors of well-being associated with obesity (e.g., stress, anxiety, sleep, emotional eating) [22][23][24], including weight loss and body composition outcomes [25][26][27]. One such modality of a mind-body intervention is Meditative Movement (MM).…”
